Improve Your Memory

Improve Your Memory -ch 1

If it weren’t for the fact that reading is the absolute underpinning of every other study skill, I could make a pretty strong case that spending time improving your memory would deliver the most “study bang” for the buck. It doesn’t matter how rapidly you whiz through your textbooks if you can’t even remember the subject you just studied five minutes later. Getting organized is essential, but not too effective if you always forget to carry your calendar and regularly turn in homework assignments late. And, of course, spending hours searching high and low for keys, glasses, and other essentials isn’t exactly the most efficient way to start your study day.As important as they are, basic memory techniques are the study ingredients least likely to be taught in schools, even in a study skills course. So while the better schools and teachers might help you with reading, writing, organizing, and test strategies, far too many of them will “forget” to help you with your memory…or to find your glasses, keys, etc.

Surprising Reasons to Give Up Wheat

Is wheat bad for you? Here’s the quick backstory: The modern version of wheat is a far cry from the ancient plant. In fact, the newer, high-yield wheat we’ve been eating since the 1980s is full of genetic changes that seem to inflame our bodies, cause our guts to leak, and trigger autoimmune diseases. To figure out some of the strange health problems associated with wheat, we flipped through the New York Times best-selling book Wheat Belly, and spoke with its author, cardiologist William Davis, MD.
But is a wheat-free diet really for you? Regardless of whether you suffer from celiac disease—an ailment triggered by wheat’s gluten—or not, many experts now believe anyone giving up not just gluten, but wheat altogether, could enjoy tremendous weight loss and health benefits . “It means making soups, salad dressings, and dinners yourself, the most assured way to avoid problem ingredients,” says Dr. Davis. “Wheat Belly also discourages people from resorting to the unhealthy gluten-free replacement foods.”

  • In an email from his home in Gstaad, Switzerland, on January 26, Graff explained that it was ‘a pleasure to do business with’ Trump
  • But he asserted that Trump got ‘no favours’ when he bought the D-flawless cut 10-carat diamond
  • A third source familiar with the transaction said that Trump was lying about the purchase and that he paid in full
  • Melania and President Trump married in 2005 and Trump bought the now First Lady a 10-year anniversary ring from Graff

Have You Ever Wanted To Try The Raw Food Diet?

There is a lot more to going raw than just eating celery and carrot sticks!

You’ve watched all the documentaries, listened to the interviews and have read the articles, but you’re still not convinced on the raw food movement.

The reason for this is probably because going raw means cutting out dairy, meat, and cooking! Three things that have become quite habitual in a modern person’s diet and routine. The trick to going raw and staying raw is to know which fresh foods you adore and to make sure they are always on hand.
In Summary, Going Raw Involves…

The Light of the Prophet

The Light of the Prophet
Sall-Allahu `alayhi wa sallam

The “Salafis” object to the verses (of al-Burda by Imam al-Busiri):

52. wa kullu ayin ata al-rusulu al-kiramu biha / fa innama ittasalat min nurihi bihimi

And every single sign brought by the noble Prophets was theirs only in connection to his light,

53. fa innahu shamsu fadlin hum kawakibuha / yuzhirna anwaraha li al-nasi fi al-zulami

For verily he is a sun of perfection of which they are the moons bringing its light to people in the midst of darkness.

Their objection is based on their known abhorrence of referring to the Prophet as “Light,” although Allah Himself refers to him as “light” three times in His Glorious Book:

· “From Allah has come to you a Light and a Book manifest.” (5:15)

· “The likeness of His light is as a niche wherein is a Lamp (the lamp in a glass, the glass as it were a glittering star) kindled from a Blessed Tree, an olive that is neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil well nigh would shine, even if no fire touched it; Light upon Light.” (24:35)

What Is Fascia And Why Is It So Important To Keep It Healthy?

Your fascia – the interconnective tissue beneath your skin – has often been called the “missing link” in modern medicine. All your muscles, bones, arteries, veins and cells LIVE INSIDE this connective tissue. Science has proven that fascial restrictions are often the cause of skeletal misalignments that result in joint pain, headaches, chronic pain and conditions like depression, TMJ and fibromyalgia.

Unfortunately, most forms of exercise, including yoga, neglect the fascia. They don’t nourish or hydrate this interconnective tissue. In these classes, award-winning yoga instructor Brett Larkin guides you through the movements science has proven your fascia needs to be healthy: unprogrammed movement, biomorphic movement, undulation and variations on Yin yoga to work DIRECTLY with your fascia for optimal health and well-being. No prior movement experience or knowledge of the fascia is required. All you need is your body — and awareness.

Connection Activities for Parents and Kids

Connection is the foundation for human relationships. For some kids, particularly those with attachment issues, anxiety or sensory issues, connection is challenging and may even feel threatening to them. These connection activities can bridge the gap and help foster the parent-child bond.

Connection with their primary caregiver comes so naturally for most children, but for others, it can actually feel threatening or uncomfortable. Children who have experienced early childhood trauma (including prenatal trauma or stress), who have had multiple caregivers and homes (foster care, adoption, kinship care), who have sensory issues, or who suffer from anxiety can struggle with connection. The fix is not as simple as incorporating intentional connection activities in your home, but these activities can be a piece of the puzzle and are a step towards better attachment.

While some of these connection activities are straightforward, others require a bit of explanation. I have provided a video below where I explain some of them in more detail as well as explain ways that you can adapt the ideas on this list for kids who are resistant to connecting. Below the video, I share a list of ideas for choosing a special song for your child because that is a question I have been getting often from parents after they watch the video.

Foods You Should Never Keep In The Fridge

Often we believe that keeping our food in the fridge is the best way to maintain freshness and longevity. While this is the case for many day-to-day food items, there are several common foods that are far better left out of the refrigerator, both for taste and nutritional value. Cold temperatures can actually accelerate the decomposition process in some foods and cause them to lose their original flavor and vital enzymes. Keeping these items in the fridge won’t cause any serious harm, yet being aware of the most beneficial ways to store your food will help to prosper your own health, as well as help to lower food waste. We are all globally responsible for 4 billion tons worth of food wastage per year. So taking small precautionary measures to understand food storage can have a bigger impact than simply having great tasting tomatoes on hand!
Here are the top ten items that are best left out of your refrigerator.

Tips To Help Reduce Bloating and Improve Your Digestive Health

Nobody likes that bloated feeling!

Usually occurring at the worst timing for you, bloating can be caused by common triggers such as stress, food sensitivities, and a lack of digestive enzymes, among other things.

The good news is that there are plenty of steps we can be doing each and every day to help reduce bloating while helping to improve our digestive health. Here are 8 steps you can start doing today:

1. Mindful Eating

You may have heard about the two parts that make up our nervous system – the sympathetic, which is needed for our ‘fight or flight’ response, and the parasympathetic, which is also known as ‘rest and digest’. We need to be in a relaxed state, or without sympathetic dominance, to be able to digest our food optimally. Eating mindfully means that we are relaxed enough for our parasympathetic nervous system to do its enormous job of digesting food and absorbing its nutrients.

How To Stay Healthy While Traveling

Traveling can take a toll on the body physically, mentally and emotionally. While travel often involves excitement and anticipation, the experience can also trigger anxiety, stress and fear.
